Every Mother's Nightmare - Wake Up Screaming (1993)

Do you remember when metal was all about lycra, cowboy hats, leather boots and whiskey ? Every Mother's Nightmare step into the grunge-infested swamp of the '90s with more oomph than all the lampshade-haired grunge bands combined. Very cool alterno-sleaze, one minute it's Kik Tracee on the ultra-cool 'House Of Pain', then a dashing of Faster Pussycat or D.A.D. In fact D.A.D. were a criminally underrated act and Every Mother's Nightmare have a similar edge, not content to just fire out puffs of lightweight sleaze, but instead they get down and dirty with their grind, at times reasonably heavy, mainly in the vocal grime, especially on 'Closet Down The Hall'.

Much ignored but well worth checking these guys out if you like your metal drenched in alcohol but always ready to party. Hair metal but with a lion-size bite.

7/10
