Thrashed From The Start - Volume 1 (2010)

This fantastic idea began life with two of my favourite thrash band's demo's being put to vinyl. The mighty Death Angel and the ferocious Violence. The latter, for me, one of the most underrated thrash acts of all time, whereas Death Angel easily had the talent to surpass the likes of Metallica until tragedy befell them. The '85 demo from DA offers up three cool cuts, the face ripping 'Thrashers', the slamming 'Kill As One' and the apocalyptic 'The Ultra Violence', whereas Violence's 1986 demo gives us four blistering assaults, including 'Kill On Command' and the crushing 'Bodies On Bodies'. Whilst thrash has become popular again, there's no doubting that Violence and Death Angel are an essential part of the legacy and to be a thrasher one must own everything these guys did.

8/10
