Nasty Savage - Nasty Savage (1985)

The sleeve is plain and simple, yet it grabs your attention as the bands bladed logo leers from the blackness. It's solid, mystical heavy metal that certainly influenced a lot of thrash acts, vocalist Nasty Ronnie beefing up the guitar attack of Austin and Meyer, the dense percussion of Curtis Besson enshrouding the record in a dark haze as Dregischan's bass pummels along, the band creating quite a metal fury on 'Gladiator', Ronnie's vocals shifting nicely from ominous bellow to high-pitched power metal wail. This debut has all the ingredients required to construct a theatrical play, from the ghost train effects to leather laden anthems, 'Metal Knights', 'Dungeon Of pleasure', and 'Psycho Path', you know what you're getting and as a fan seeking real metal, this is for you. Adorn yourself in the shield of metal and take to the forest and find yourself a dragon to slay.
7.5/10
