Manowar - The Lord Of Steel (2012)

Check out the fuzz of that bass pedal, and not all the fans are liking this one - is it the slightly more melodic and mellower approach, or that fuzziness on the bass that creeps into every song ? I'm actually digging it, although still can't beat those old Manowar classics but this time round it's the hilariously titled 'Manowarriors' that brings a smirk as it gallops like a thunderhorse across the sky. The bass is dominant again on 'Born In A Grave' and title track is a dirty ballsy fuzz monster that'll have the speakers falling off the wal. The band still like to resort to their epic storytelling, 'Righteous Glory' is perfect for a woodland fire and after all is said and done, it's still great that Manowar exist even if this outing sees them straying on the more subtle side. I don't see this bringing in new fans, and judging by some of the reviews, the band may struggle to keep some of those they've got. 6/10
