Realm - Endless War (1988)

I kinew so little about this band, I recall that when it first came out and I saw the cover I thought it was going to be a middle of the road basic metal album - how wrong was I. Although Realm matured at great pace after this opus, this debut was a fine thrash platter which displayed some admirable bass skills amidst those crunching riffs and rasped yet warbling vocals which were pretty unqiue in the field. Considering these type of bands probably made fuck all money and didn't sell much, to listen back on such a record so many years later is a joy and it's laughable to hear how progressive, heavy and varied this really in, the excellent 'Eminence' with its immense yet ominous beginnings sums up the aggression and masterful musicianship whilst 'This House Is Burning' is pure armageddon on record, Antoni's vocals a sheer ear splitting delight. This sort of stuff really deserves to be resurrected, forget all this new fake thrash, grab yourself some Realm and prepare for the endless war. 7.5/10
