Acid - Maniac (1983)
Wonderfully obscure and yet rather fast metal - not quite sure if it fits under the speed metal tag, the unorthodox vocals of Kate de Lombaert give the band a straight metal feel, but some of the guitars attempt thrash, particularly on a track like 'Bottoms Up.' Hard to belieev that these Belgian's were churning out serious metal the same time as Metallica, in fact vocals aside, fans of Metallica's 'Kill Em All' may appreciate some of the riffs on offer here, 'Prince Of Hell & Fire' is pure molten metal with plodding drum and buzzing riff as is the remarkable 'Lucidera,' with some serious guitar shredding at the start. Great stuff considering how old and unknown it is.
