The Crucified - s/t (1989)

This is punky thrash from back in the day that deserves a mention due to its fast and loose nature. A lot of people will define this sound as thrashcore, but it's not really relevant all these years later, but if you like noisy, crashing thrash that brings to mind the likes of Excel, then you'll dig this feisty thrash workout. 'back To The Cross' does take influence from Slayer, especially the opening riff but vocally it's far removed from the LA titans, instead it offers a punkoid, streetwise voice, buzzing riffs and some crashing yet highly accomplished drums. 'The Pit' is a hyper mosh up, 'Your Image' follows suit, 'Diehard' and 'Unity' proof that being a Christian band isn't relevant to the sound, because The Crucified really know how to deliver crossover metal. 7/10
