Deadly Blessing - An Eye To The Past (2005)

This is a fantastic power metal compilation concerning one of my fave, albeit most obecure metal bands from the '80s. I've reviewed their album 'Ascend From The Cauldron' el;sewhere, but to put it simply, if you're after fantasy-driven, smoking dungeons n dragons style metal with epic soaring vocals then you can't go wrong with these guys. The album features demo's, and lost cuts, the 'Immortal' demo track from '88 is an absolute gem, it rides in on a galloping drum before raging headlong into a killer riff, and those vocals raise the heckles. Material from Deadly Blessing is notoriously hard to find, but I'm sure if you explore enough caves you might be able to unearth a copy. Great stuff. 8/10
