Cutthroat - s/t (1987)

Well, the track 'Hard As Nails' certainly lives up its name - Cutthroat are a gloriously heavy metal act from the '80s who pretty much epitomise what the scene was about, but this really is epic metal, from those fuzzy riffs on the said track, the gritty vocals and those devastating drum attacks. Talk about obscure metal, and yet this is highly accomplished metal, real denim n' leather, sparks flying, chanted abandonment, blood, sweat and rusty tears, fantastic. You probably won't be able to find this record anywhere, but there are a number of rock hard anthems on this platter, real meaty stuff that deserves a second chance. I know nothing about the band, but check out a track like 'Hard As Nails' on YouTube because it really does scream blue mercy. Hell yeah... 7.5/10
